What is duct cleaning? 

   In the most general terms it is the cleaning of your heating and cooling system (the ducts, grills and equipment).  In general, people have become extremely concerned about outdoor air quality.  It is only more recently we have become concerned with indoor air quality.  Considering we spend 80% of our time inside, indoor air quality should be important to all of us.  Everyday household dust can contain dust mites, mildew, pollen and animal dander. Even the food you prepare for yourself and your family can affect indoor air quality.  These contaminates can be carried and circulated throughout your home by your air conditioning system. Many of these contaminates can irritate asthma and allergy sufferers.

   Yearly maintenance and cleanings performed on your air conditioning system, together with regular filter changes, will help to control some of these contaminates. However, you my see, in a visual inspection of your ducts, that there are large deposits of dust or growth. If someone in your home seems to be suffering from unexplained allergies, it may be time to consider duct cleaning. By removing dirt and debris from mechanical components, you may experience a longer life span for your air conditioning equipment and less breakdowns. How is duct cleaning performed?

   The first step is to have a Customer Care Representative come out to your home and determine if duct cleaning is necessary or not. If it is, he will give you a written proposal of the cost involved.  Once an agreement has been made, a convenient appointment will be set to perform the work.  Our team will arrive with  tarps to protect your home and a portable duct cleaning machine. This equipment will allow us to get closer to the source versus dragging a hose from your house to a truck. A hose is attached to the machine and various size soft brushes can be attached for perfect sizing. The brush agitates inside the duct to remove dust and debris. This dust and debris is immediately vacuumed up into the hose and into the machine. The dust is filtered through two electrostatic filters and a hepa filter so that dust is not reintroduced into the home.  Registers (grills) are then cleaned to remove cooking oil film, nicotine film and other dust-collecting substances.  To help eliminate any odors, your ducts are sprayed with an antimicrobial encapsulater.  Then they will let you visually inspect the duct thru our video inspection system (remote camera that is placed inside your duct work) so you may see the difference.  Video tapes can be available for before and after the duct cleaning. Before leaving your home, our duct cleaning crew will vacuum the areas the duct cleaning machine was placed on.
